June is the second month of summer and the sixth month of Julian and Gregorian calendars. June has a length of 30 days and the third of five months to have a length of fewer than 31 days. June contains the mid-year solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, the day with the most sunlight hours, and the winter solstice in the Southern Hemisphere, the day with the least sunshine hours (barring polar areas in the two cases). June in the Northern Hemisphere is the occasional proportionate to December in the Southern Hemisphere and the other way around. In the Northern side of the equator, the start of the customary galactic summer is 21 June (meteorological summer starts on 1 June). In the Southern half of the globe, meteorological winter starts on 1 June.

Toward the beginning of June, the sun ascends in the group of stars of Taurus; toward the finish of June, the sun ascends in the heavenly body of Gemini. In any case, because of the precession of the equinoxes, June starts with the sun in the mysterious indication of Gemini, and closures with the sun in the visionary indication of Cancer. Also, June’s birthstones are pearl and alexandrite.
