Editor's note. We checked each state's lookup page on Oct. 25, 2026. Some state sites block automated checks, so for those we point to the official National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) tool; we will update this page as states post November ballots.
To view your sample ballot for Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, start with your state’s official voter lookup page or the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) “Can I Vote” tool. NASS says the tool “links directly to state election websites and trusted resources” and “does not capture any information.” Below: the lookup page for 31 states and Washington, D.C. that loaded when we checked, what to do in the 19 states that did not, and a free printable checklist.
Can I find a sample ballot by ZIP code?
In most states, no. A sample ballot depends on your exact address and precinct, so most state tools ask for your name and date of birth or address. A ZIP code alone does not tell an election office which ballot you get. Our Texas sample ballot story has a ZIP code finder and county links for that state.
North Carolina’s State Board of Elections says you can find your sample ballot “by entering your first and last name in the Voter Search.” It adds that “sample ballots for each election are available only after they have been finalized.” If your ballot is not posted yet, check back later.
How do I use the NASS Can I Vote tool?
Go to the NASS Can I Vote page (canivote.org redirects there). On its polling place page, NASS says to “select your place of residence in the drop down menu.” It says many states offer online services that can help you look up your local voting site, and others list contact information for local election officials.
Which state pages loaded on Oct. 25, 2026?
These are voter information lookup pages. Many show your sample ballot once it is finalized; if yours does not, your county election office posts it. California sample ballots come from county election offices, Florida sample ballots come from county Supervisors of Elections, and New Jersey sample ballots come from county clerks.
What if my state is not in the table?
For these states, the lookup page blocked our automated check or has moved: Alaska, Arizona, Georgia, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin. Use the NASS Can I Vote tool to reach your state’s election website, then your state election office.
Texas has its own story: see sample ballot by ZIP code in Texas. We do not list a link we could not confirm.
What should I do with my sample ballot?
Read each race and measure, and write your choices on the sample ballot. Then check polling hours and your state’s ID rules on its election site, and check whether your state allows you to bring a marked sample ballot to vote. Our free Election Day 2026 Ballot Prep Checklist puts those steps on one page.
