What Small Business Saturday is

Small Business Saturday is a “shop small” day for independent local businesses. American Express created it in 2010, and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has co-sponsored it since 2011, according to the SBA. Black Friday, by comparison, is about broad retail deals.

What Cyber Monday is

Cyber Monday is the Monday after Thanksgiving. It is a retail marketing term, not a federal holiday.

Which of these days is a holiday

How the dates are worked out

All of these days are counted from Thanksgiving, the fourth Thursday of November, which is Nov. 26 in 2026. Black Friday is the next day, Small Business Saturday is the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and Cyber Monday is the Monday after it. That puts them on Nov. 27, Nov. 28 and Nov. 30. Nov. 29 is the Sunday in between, so the weekend runs Thursday to Monday with one quiet day before the Cyber Monday date.

Shop small or shop broad
