Today’s Wordle from The New York Times (NYT) is puzzle #1960, for Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, edited by Tracy Bennett. The answer uses four different letters, with one of them, O, appearing twice at the end. Work down the clues one at a time, and only scroll to the last section if you want the answer itself.

How Wordle works

You get six tries to find a five-letter word. After each guess, a green tile means the right letter in the right spot, yellow means the letter is in the word but in another spot, and gray means it is not in the word at all. A letter that appears twice is only marked twice if you guess it twice.

Guessing tips for today

The word ends in two Os, so a guess that puts O in the last two spots can turn two tiles green at once. A starter with A and a common consonant, such as “raise” or “crane,” shows whether the A lands in the second spot. Because one letter repeats, remember that a double O only turns both tiles colored if you guess it twice.
