In 1952, August 2, this special day had been signed into law as “Citizenship Day” by Harry Truman who was the former president of United States of America. After four years, Congress offered to make these celebrations spread over a whole week. One more change was made to the event and Citizenship day started being called as Constitution Week by local people.

Finally, in December 2004, Congress decided to enact that September 17 a federal holiday as Constitution Day. Since then, people in United States of America celebrate September 17 as Constitution Day and various ceremonies have been organized in this day.
