The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping opens in theaters Friday, Nov. 20, 2026, and runs about 158 minutes, according to Fathom Entertainment and the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC). Fathom’s July 9, 2026 post says the film “will be released in theatres everywhere November 20, 2026.” Below are the films in release order and a free plan to rewatch five of them, one a night, ending the evening before.

When does Sunrise on the Reaping come out?

Fathom Entertainment’s “The Hunger Games Returns to Theatres” gives Nov. 20, 2026, which is a Friday. The BBFC page for the film lists the same date (20/11/2026) for the UK. Lionsgate is the studio. A Canada date was not confirmed on the pages we checked.

Nov. 20 is also the day Mockingjay Part 2 opened in the U.S. in 2015, so Sunrise arrives 11 years to the day after it.

How long is Sunrise on the Reaping?

The BBFC lists an approximate running time of 158 minutes, which is 2 hours 38 minutes. It classified the film on Oct. 28, 2026 and lists the content descriptors “moderate violence, injury detail, threat, upsetting scenes.” The BBFC also classified a 3D version.

Who made Sunrise on the Reaping?

The Credits, the Motion Picture Association’s site, said on Apr. 13, 2026 that Francis Lawrence directs from a script by Billy Ray. The cast it names includes Elle Fanning, Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman, Jesse Plemons and Ralph Fiennes as President Coriolanus Snow.

The film is based on the novel by Suzanne Collins. Scholastic’s Mar. 13, 2025 press release lists the book, from Scholastic Press for ages 12 and up, as on sale Mar. 18, 2025.
