MCAT 2027 Test Dates: Registration Opens Oct. 20, All 35 Exam Days and Every Score Release

Registration for the 2027 Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) opens at noon Eastern Time on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, for test takers in the first of three state groups, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). The rest follow on Oct. 21 and Oct. 22. Seats for popular spring and summer dates can go quickly, so it helps to know your group, your top three dates and your backup centers before noon.

Confirm your group on the AAMC’s registration opening page before opening day. Have two or three backup dates and centers ready in case your first choice fills.

Before opening day: From Oct. 5 through Oct. 19, the AAMC lets you complete the first five tabs of the registration form in the MCAT Registration System. Doing that leaves only date, center and payment for registration day.

Scheduling deadlines are 11:59 p.m. local time at the test center. Scores are released by 5 p.m. Eastern Time. The exam starts at 8 a.m.

The 60-day and 10-day deadlines mark the edges of the AAMC’s fee tiers; a third, 30-day deadline falls between them. After the 10-day deadline, you cannot change or cancel your appointment.

Rescheduling costs $55 at least 60 days before the exam, $110 between 30 and 59 days, and $210 between 10 and 29 days. Canceling refunds $180 if you cancel 30 or more days out and nothing after that. Apply for Fee Assistance before you register: the reduced fee applies only after approval.

Choosing a date

Medical schools that use rolling admissions start reviewing applications in early summer, and many applicants aim to have a score before submitting. A May test date returns scores in June. A late-summer date, such as Aug. 28 with scores on Sept. 28, still reaches most schools before interview season but leaves no room to retest that year. Leave time for a second attempt if you might need one, and line up the dates on a 2027 printable yearly calendar or the May and August monthly pages.
