The Mexico City Day of the Dead parade is Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, at 2 p.m. Mexico City time (4 p.m. Eastern Time (ET)), and it runs along Avenida Paseo de la Reforma to the Zócalo, according to the Mexico City government’s tourism site. The page calls it the Gran Desfile de Día de Muertos. It gives no end time. Below: the time in U.S. and U.K. zones, the route, the other events through Nov. 2 and what is still not announced.
What time is the Mexico City Day of the Dead parade?
The tourism portal lists “Sábado 31 de octubre a las 14:00 horas.” Mexico City has used Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) minus 6 hours (UTC-6) all year since 2022. U.S. clocks are still on daylight time on Oct. 31 and fall back on Nov. 1, so the gap to Eastern is 2 hours on parade day. The conversions are ours, checked with the Mexico City time zone database.
| Where | Time on Sat., Oct. 31 |
|---|---|
| Mexico City | 2 p.m. |
| Eastern Time (ET) | 4 p.m. |
| Central Time (CT) | 3 p.m. |
| Mountain Time (Denver) | 2 p.m. |
| Arizona (Phoenix) | 1 p.m. |
| Pacific Time (PT) | 1 p.m. |
| London, Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) | 8 p.m. |
| UTC | 20:00 |
U.K. clocks went back on Oct. 25, which is why London is on GMT. After U.S. clocks fall back on Nov. 1, Mexico City matches Chicago again; our Mexico time difference after Nov. 1 story has the full table.
What is the Day of the Dead parade route?
The official page says the route is Avenida Paseo de la Reforma until it reaches the Zócalo. It names no starting point.
Chilango reported on Oct. 19, 2026, citing the Mexico City Secretaría de Cultura’s call for participants, a start at the Glorieta de la Diana (the Diana Cazadora roundabout). The reported path then follows Paseo de la Reforma, Avenida Juárez, Eje Central and 5 de Mayo to the Zócalo. Treat that detail as reported, not official.
For comparison, Chilango reported on Oct. 8, 2025, that the 2025 parade was on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, from the Puerta de los Leones in Chapultepec along Reforma, Juárez and 5 de Mayo to the Zócalo. The 2026 date, start and day are different.
What else is on in Mexico City from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2?
The same tourism page lists these events. None of the entries gives hours.
| Event | Official date | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mega Procesión de Catrinas | Oct. 25 | Already past; it took place on Sunday, Oct. 25 |
| Ofrenda Monumental, Zócalo | Oct. 29 to Nov. 2 | Thursday through Monday |
| Gran Desfile de Día de Muertos | Sat., Oct. 31, 14:00 | Reforma to the Zócalo |
| San Andrés Mixquic (Tláhuac borough) | Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 | Three named nights, below |
| Xochimilco | No dates on the page | Traditional night trajinera (boat) rides |
The page names the Mixquic nights: Oct. 31, “El Susurro de los Angelitos” (the whisper of the little angels); Nov. 1, “El gran reencuentro” (the great reunion); and Nov. 2, “La Alumbrada” (the lighting). For the holiday itself, see our Day of the Dead 2026 dates explainer. Día de Muertos falls on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2, the days of the Catholic feasts covered in All Saints’ Day 2026.
What has not been announced for the parade?
The pages we could reach do not give an end time, a length, a float count, 2026 road closures or Metro and Metrobús changes. The official pages of the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) and the Metro were down when we tried, so we found no closure notice. Check the official channels of both agencies on the day before you travel.
