Black Friday 2026 is Fri., Nov. 27, 2026 in Canada, Cyber Monday is Mon., Nov. 30, and Canadian Tire says its Black Friday deals start Thu., Nov. 5, according to Canadian Tire’s Black Friday page. Which Canadian retailers have announced Black Friday 2026 dates?

Only Canadian Tire had dates on its site when we checked on Oct. 29, 2026. Canadian Tire gives no end date or times, and says “Sales timing may vary, with some promotions starting early and extending through Cyber Monday or beyond.”

When does Amazon.ca Black Friday 2026 start?

Not yet announced. Amazon’s newsroom did publish dates for the United States last year: its Nov. 9, 2025 release said its Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday deal events were “kicking off November 20” and running through Dec. 1. That release covers the United States, not Canada, so it does not tell us what Amazon.ca will do in 2026. Is Black Friday a holiday in Canada?

No. The Government of Canada’s page on annual vacations and general holidays for employees of federally regulated employers lists 10 general holidays: New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Black Friday is not on that federal list. The page covers federal jurisdiction only, so check your province or employer for other days off.

How can you check that a Black Friday deal is real?

The Competition Bureau Canada says a seller must have a real “ordinary selling price” before it advertises a discount from it. Its page sets out two tests, and a price must meet at least one of them:

• Volume test: “More than 50% of sales of the product were at that price or higher within a reasonable period (usually within a year).”
• Time test: “The product was offered for sale, in good faith, at that price or higher for a substantial period of time.”

In a Nov. 25, 2025 news release, the Bureau said “businesses cannot invent a higher regular price to make a sale look like a bargain when it’s not.” It added: “Also known as fake ordinary selling price, this practice can mislead consumers and violates the Competition Act.”

A shopper cannot see a store’s sales volume, but can look at how long the “regular” price has been on the shelf or page. The planner has a line for it.
