The National Day of Mourning 2026 is Thursday, Nov. 26, Thanksgiving Day, at 12:00 noon Eastern Time (ET) on Cole’s Hill in Plymouth, Massachusetts, according to the organizer, United American Indians of New England (UAINE). UAINE says the event will be livestreamed from Plymouth. Our free one-page printable, the National Day of Mourning 2026 Watch Guide, is further down this page.
When and where is the National Day of Mourning in Plymouth?
UAINE’s page lists “Thursday, November 26, 2026,” “12:00 Noon,” at “Cole’s Hill (above Plymouth Rock), Plymouth, Massachusetts.” Its questions page says the start is 12 noon sharp and that the rallies and marches will last until approximately 3 p.m. A plaque on Cole’s Hill, quoted by Plimoth Patuxet Museums, reads: “Since 1970, Native Americans have gathered at noon on Cole’s Hill in Plymouth to commemorate a National Day of Mourning.” The museum says the Town of Plymouth erected the plaque in 1998 on behalf of UAINE.
UAINE says there will be a rally and then a march through the historic district of Plymouth. No detailed route is published yet.

What are the rules for people who attend?
UAINE lists these requests for the outdoor program in Plymouth:
- Masks are required.
- Only Indigenous people speak, and speakers are by invitation only.
- No selling merchandise or handing out leaflets at the outdoor program; UAINE says the day is “not a powwow or commercial event.”
- No eating at the outdoor speak-out or march, unless for medical reasons, out of respect for participants who are fasting.
- Dress for the weather.
UAINE says it welcomes non-Native supporters. After the march, box lunches (turkey and vegan) will be available, with no full sit-down social.
What access and travel details has UAINE announced?
For access, UAINE says it has chairs for Elders and others who need to sit during the initial rally, will try to have a couple of cars for people who cannot walk the full march route, and will have American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters on stage.
For travel, UAINE says there will likely be two buses from New York City and likely one bus from Jamaica Plain (Boston). Details are to be announced; the organizer’s Facebook event carries bus information. On the march, UAINE says the town agreed in the settlement of Oct. 19, 1998 that UAINE may march on the day without a permit as long as it gives the town advance notice.
