Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, according to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), and USAGov says you can confirm your voter registration status in a few steps through Can I Vote. The FEC lists “General Election Date 11/03/2026” in its 2026 dates document (data as of May 18, 2026). Today is Thursday, Oct. 29, so five days remain to check.
How do I check if I am registered to vote?
USAGov, in its page “How to confirm your voter registration status” (last updated Oct. 6, 2026), gives three steps:
- Visit Can I Vote and select “voter registration status.”
- Choose your state. You will be taken to a page on your state’s election website.
- Check to see if you are registered.
Can I Vote is a “nonpartisan website” created “by state election officials to help eligible voters figure out how and where to go vote,” according to the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS). It links directly to state election websites and trusted resources. The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) adds that each state makes its own voting rules, including how to confirm your registration, and that you can usually check online or by contacting your local elections office. The EAC also points to eac.gov/vote for quick links to your state or territory’s elections website.
What if I am not found or my address is wrong?
The EAC says to check, especially if you have recently moved or changed your name. If your state page does not show you, or shows an old name or address, contact your local elections office. USAGov’s “Voter registration” page explains how to update your name, address and political party affiliation.
Rules differ by state. Some states allow registration on Election Day and some do not, and this story does not list which, so open your state’s election website today and read its deadlines. Our earlier story on the Oct. 19 registration deadline and early voting covers three states in detail.
How do I find my polling place?
Can I Vote offers a “Find Your Polling Place” tool next to “Voter Registration Status.” It sends you to your state’s election website. Hours and locations come from that site; they are not listed here because each state sets its own. To see which states are already voting, read early voting 2026: which states are voting now.

Does the Nov. 3 date apply to every race?
The FEC’s document is a list of 2026 primary dates and filing deadlines, and it gives Nov. 3, 2026 as the general election date. A note in the same document says Louisiana House elections “have been postponed to 11/3/2026.” Your state’s election website lists the races on your own ballot.
