Columbus City Schools Calendar 2026-27: Winter Break, Spring Break and Last Day

Columbus City Schools (CCS) has no school from Monday, Dec. 21, 2026 through Friday, Jan. 1, 2027, and spring break runs Friday, March 26 through Friday, April 2, 2027, according to the “26-27 CCS Traditional Calendar” on the district’s website. Classes start Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026 for Grades 1-12, and the last day for students is Thursday, May 27, 2027. The district’s PDF calls the Nov. 23-27 closure “Wellness Week” and does not say “Thanksgiving”; Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 26, falls inside it. When do students return after Columbus City Schools winter break?

The calendar does not state a return date. It lists no closure for Monday, Jan. 4, 2027, so classes resume after the break. Counting weekends, students are out from Saturday, Dec. 19 through Sunday, Jan. 3, which is 16 days. Friday, Dec. 18 is a “30 Minute Early Dismissal”. The district has not posted a board approval date on its calendar page, so none is given here.

How long is Columbus City Schools spring break 2027?

Six weekdays, from Friday, March 26 through Friday, April 2. Students are also out on Thursday, March 25, a Records Day, after a 30-minute early dismissal on Wednesday, March 24 that the calendar pairs with the end of the third quarter. Counting weekends, that is 11 days away from classes, Thursday, March 25 through Sunday, April 4.

What are the first and last days of the Columbus City Schools year?

Professional development days are Aug. 17-19, 2026. Students in Grades 1-12 start Thursday, Aug. 20; kindergarten starts Tuesday, Aug. 25; Pre-K starts Tuesday, Sept. 8. The last day for students is Thursday, May 27, 2027, followed by a Records Day on Friday, May 28. The calendar lists quarter ends on Oct. 15, Jan. 14 and March 24.

How does Woodcrest’s year-round calendar differ?

Woodcrest Elementary is the district’s only year-round school, with its own “26-27 CCS Woodcrest Calendar”. It shares the winter and spring break, Memorial Day and Juneteenth closures, but it starts earlier, adds four intersessions and ends later.
