Costco Holiday Closures 2026-27: Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas, Open Veterans Day and Black Friday

Costco closes its U.S. warehouses on seven holidays a year, according to its customer service page, and the next two are close: Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 26, and Christmas Day, Friday, Dec. 25, 2026. Warehouses then close again on New Year’s Day, Friday, Jan. 1, 2027. Everything else, including Veterans Day, Black Friday and Christmas Eve, is a regular business day, with hours set by each warehouse.

Thanksgiving and Black Friday week

With warehouses closed on Thursday, anything you need for the Thanksgiving meal has to be bought by Wednesday, Nov. 25, and stores are typically crowded that day. Costco reopens on Black Friday, Nov. 27. Our Thanksgiving explainer covers why the holiday falls on Nov. 26, and when Black Friday falls lists future dates.

Christmas and New Year’s

Christmas Day and New Year’s Day both fall on Fridays this season, so each gives Costco a closed Friday followed by a normal Saturday. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are open days on Costco’s list, but individual warehouses set their hours, so check your local warehouse page if you plan to shop late. If you are mailing gifts instead, our USPS holiday shipping deadlines put the last Priority Mail Express send-by date at Saturday, Dec. 19.

Gas, pharmacy and other departments

Costco’s gas stations, pharmacies, optical centers and tire centers often keep different hours from the main warehouse, and some open on days or times when the warehouse does not. Each warehouse page on Costco.com lists those departments separately.

Not a federal holiday schedule

Costco’s list is not the same as the federal holiday list. Costco stays open on several federal holidays, including Veterans Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Presidents’ Day, and closes on Easter Sunday, which is not a federal holiday. Easter 2027 falls on March 28; see when Easter falls each year. Shoppers buying holiday sets early, such as this year’s LEGO advent calendars, can also order online from Costco.com on days the warehouses are closed.
