Day to End Violence Against Women 2026: Wed., Nov. 25, and the 16 Days to Dec. 10

The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2026, according to the United Nations (UN) observance page, and the 16 Days of Activism that start that day run to Dec. 10. Below are all 16 days on a calendar with the UN days inside the span, the 2026 theme as UN Women Asia-Pacific gives it, and a free printable.

What is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women?

The UN observance page lists Nov. 25 as the date and ties it to the start of the UNiTE campaign, “the launch of the UNiTE campaign (Nov 25- Dec 10).” The High Council for Equality between Women and Men (France) says Resolution 54/134, adopted 17 December 1999, proclaims 25 November the international day.

What is the 2026 theme?

UN Women Asia-Pacific, a regional UN Women office, published an announcement dated 21 August 2026. It says: “From 25 November to 10 December 2026, mark the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.” It gives the theme as “UNiTE to End Violence Against Women and Girls: Ensure justice, protect survivors, end impunity.”

We found no separate global 2026 theme page, so the title above is the regional office’s. The UN observance page still shows the 2025 theme, “UNiTE to End Digital Violence against Women and Girls.”

Which days fall inside the 16 Days of Activism?

The UN page says the campaign concludes “on the day that commemorates the International Human Rights Day (10 December).” Counting Nov. 25 and Dec. 10 both, that is 16 days. The table shows the weekdays (our calculation) and the UN days that fall inside.

What is Orange the World?

UN Women says Orange the World “calls on people everywhere to wear the colour orange and take action to end violence against women and girls.” The hero photo is a file photo from Nov. 25, 2020, of Leibniz University Hannover’s main building lit orange for Orange Day.

What figures does UN Women give?

On its facts page, updated Nov. 19, 2025, UN Women estimates that 840 million women, “almost one in three,” have experienced intimate partner violence, non-partner sexual violence, or both. It also says “8 percent or 263 million women” aged 15 and older report sexual violence by a non-partner.
