The 153rd Kentucky Derby is on Saturday, May 1, 2027, and post time is scheduled for approximately 6:57 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), according to the official Kentucky Derby website. The Preakness follows on Sunday, May 23, and the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 5. The table below sets out all three with the track, the weekday and the days between them.

Kentucky Derby 2027 post time in every U.S. time zone

The official page gives 6:57 p.m. ET as an approximate time, so treat it as a target rather than a gate time. Racing in May runs on daylight time, and the same moment reads as follows.

Zone	Post time on Sat., May 1, 2027
Eastern Time (ET)	about 6:57 p.m.
Central Time (CT)	about 5:57 p.m.
Mountain Time (MT)	about 4:57 p.m.
Pacific Time (PT)	about 3:57 p.m.

The Derby site’s page title lists April 30 and May 1, 2027 as the Oaks and Derby days. Our May 2027 printable calendar shows where those dates fall.

Triple Crown 2027 dates, tracks and gaps

Race	Date	Track	Days after the previous race
Kentucky Derby	Sat., May 1, 2027	Churchill Downs	Not applicable
Preakness	Sun., May 23, 2027	Pimlico Race Course	22 days
Belmont Stakes	Sat., June 5, 2027	Belmont Park	13 days

The gaps are our arithmetic from the three official dates: May 1 to May 23 is 22 days, and May 23 to June 5 is 13 days, so the full run takes 35 days. Put the last date on your June 2027 printable calendar.

Why is the 2027 Preakness on a Sunday?

The Maryland Jockey Club announced changes to Preakness Week on Aug. 5, 2026. The Preakness is to be run on Sunday, May 23, at Pimlico Race Course, and the Black-Eyed Susan card is moved to Saturday, May 22. The announcement gives the new days; the sources used here do not give a reason.

Where is the 2027 Belmont Stakes?

The New York Racing Association (NYRA) says the 2027 Belmont Stakes “returns home to a brand-new Belmont Park” on Saturday, June 5, 2027. The page used for this story gives the date and the venue, and no post time.

What channel shows the Derby and Preakness?

The official Derby page does not name the 2027 broadcaster yet. For comparison, NBC and Peacock carried the 2026 Derby, according to NBC Sports on April 27, 2026. For the Preakness, the Maryland Jockey Club says the race is broadcast on NBC and Peacock through 2032.

The Preakness and Belmont post times were not in the announcements this story draws on. For other big race days, see our guides to the Super Bowl date and channel and the Melbourne Cup schedule. Mark the May dates alongside the Mother’s Day and Memorial Day 2027 long weekend.
