Hints for each word
Across
- Row 1: first letter B, last letter E. A spree of doing something to excess, such as watching a whole series in one sitting.
- Row 3: first letter S, last letter O. A burst of many things at once, such as a round of gunfire or a flurry of criticism.
- Row 5: first letter L, last letter Y. An adjective for a person who is tall, thin and a little awkward.
Down
- Column 1: first letter B, last letter L. A leafy green herb that goes into pesto and on top of pizza.
- Column 3: first letter N, last letter N. A synthetic fiber used in stockings, rope and jackets.
- Column 5: first letter E, last letter Y. A two-part glue, or the resin it makes, that hardens into a tough bond.
How the swap budget works out on today’s board
Waffle gives you 15 swaps. Seven green tiles cost nothing, so 14 tiles are left to place. If every swap fixed two tiles at once, seven swaps would do it. Today’s route cannot manage that: four of its swaps fix two tiles and the other six fix one, so 4 x 2 + 6 = 14 tiles take 10 swaps. Five swaps stay in the bank.
The doubles arrive late. Swaps 1 and 2 fix one tile each, the first double is swap 3, and the next three doubles are swaps 7, 9 and 10. A route that opened with its doubles would feel quite different, because the early moves here are about setting up squares for the later ones.
One square works as a relay. Row 2, column 3 is touched by swaps 1, 2 and 3 in a row, more than any other square in the route. If you solve by hand, expect to park a tile there and pass it along.
The 21 tiles hold one letter three times, five letters twice each and eight letters once, which makes 14 different letters in the pile.

A 10-swap route for five stars
Here is a 10-swap route, the minimum, that turns the starting grid into the solved grid. Play the swaps in order, since each one assumes the earlier ones are done. Ten swaps leave five of the 15 unused, so it earns five stars. Swaps 3, 7, 9 and 10 each put two tiles home at once.

Frequently asked questions
What number is today's Waffle?
Waffle #1751, for Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026.
Can Waffle #1751 be solved in fewer than 10 swaps?
No. A full search of the starting grid finds no shorter route, so 10 is the minimum for this board. It leaves five of the game's 15 swaps unused, which earns five stars.
Why do the first three swaps in today's route share a square?
Row 2, column 3 acts as a relay. Swaps 1, 2 and 3 each use it, so a tile parks there while the next one comes through, and no other square is touched as often.
Do any two of today's words share an end tile?
Yes. Row 1 and Column 1 share their first tile, and Row 5 and Column 5 share their last tile, so the hint lines for each pair begin or end with the same letter.

Spoilers. Across: Binge, Salvo, Lanky. Down: Basil, Nylon, Epoxy.
