Family Day 2027 Is Monday, February 15: Which Provinces Get the Day Off

Family Day 2027 falls on Monday, Feb. 15, the third Monday in February. Alberta’s general holidays page lists Alberta Family Day on that Monday, Ontario’s Employment Standards Act guide lists Family Day among its public holidays, and Nova Scotia’s holiday regulation calls the same Monday Heritage Day. Print the one-page February 2027 long weekend planner below to mark it.

Family Day 2027 by province

The table lists only what each province’s own page says. The date is computed: the third Monday of February 2027 is Feb. 15.

Province	Name of the day	Rule on the official page	2027 date	Confirmed on official page
Alberta	Alberta Family Day	Third Monday in February	Mon., Feb. 15	Yes
Ontario	Family Day	Listed among nine public holidays	Mon., Feb. 15	Yes
Nova Scotia	Nova Scotia Heritage Day	Third Monday in February in 2015 and each later year	Mon., Feb. 15	Yes

Alberta says it has 9 general holidays, and Ontario says it has nine public holidays, so Family Day is one of a short list in both. The Ontario guide was updated on July 8, 2024. The Nova Scotia regulation gives the rule for 2015 and every later year, which covers 2027.

Does Ontario get Family Day off in 2027?

Ontario’s guide to the Employment Standards Act lists Family Day among the province’s public holidays, so it applies to the Monday, Feb. 15, 2027 shown above. Check the guide itself for the rules on pay if you work that day.

What about Louis Riel Day and the other provinces?

Other provinces set their own February holidays, and we have not yet checked British Columbia, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Manitoba (Louis Riel Day), Prince Edward Island (Islander Day) or Yukon (Heritage Day) on their official pages. This story gives no date or rule for them. Check your province’s employment standards page, and see our Canada statutory holidays 2027 list for the federal holidays set by the Canada Labour Code.
