Godzilla Minus Zero Release Date: IMAX Nov. 3, Nationwide Nov. 6, UK and Ireland Nov. 6

GKIDS, the North American distributor, says “Godzilla Minus Zero” debuts in IMAX theatres on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, known as “Godzilla Day,” and opens nationwide in North America on Friday, Nov. 6. Its Oct. 6, 2026 ticket announcement is the source for both dates. Below are the dates by country, a comparison with the last film’s release gap and a free one-page planner for the week.

When does Godzilla Minus Zero come out?

GKIDS lists IMAX Early Access screenings on Nov. 3, “followed by the wide release in both standard and premium formats on November 6.” It also says the film is “released theatrically across North America beginning Friday, November 6.” GKIDS describes Nov. 3 as Godzilla Day, the anniversary of the original film’s release. Toho will release the film in Japan on Tuesday, Nov. 3, per its announcement as reprinted by SciFi Japan.

How does this release gap compare with Godzilla Minus One?

The earlier film, “Godzilla Minus One,” opened in Japan on Nov. 3, 2023 and reached U.S. theaters on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, per a Toho update reprinted by SciFi Japan. That is a gap we computed from the two dates.

Film	Japan opening	U.S. opening	Gap
Godzilla Minus One	Fri., Nov. 3, 2023	Fri., Dec. 1, 2023	28 days
Godzilla Minus Zero	Tue., Nov. 3, 2026	Fri., Nov. 6, 2026 (IMAX Early Access Nov. 3)	3 days (0 days for IMAX)

Toho’s story text says “Two years have passed since the life-or-death battle in Godzilla Minus One.” The new film is written, directed and given its visual effects by Takashi Yamazaki. “Godzilla Minus One” won Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards on Mar. 10, 2024; the Academy credits Yamazaki, Kiyoko Shibuya, Masaki Takahashi and Tatsuji Nojima.

Who is in the cast, and what is the rating?

Toho’s announcement names Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Min Tanaka, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Yuki Yamada, Kuranosuke Sasaki, Sakura Ando and Miou Tanaka. GKIDS calls it the first-ever Japanese production Filmed For IMAX.

Dark Horizons (Sep. 22, 2026) and Dread Central (Sep. 23, 2026) both reported an R rating for “some violent content/bloody images.” Both call it the first R-rated Godzilla film. We did not find the rating on an official page, so treat it as reported.
