International Education Week 2026: Nov. 16-20 Dates, Hashtags and Toolkit

International Education Week (IEW) 2026 will be held Nov. 16-20, 2026, according to NAFSA: Association of International Educators, in a joint release with partner groups dated Oct. 22, 2026. Nov. 16 is a Monday and Nov. 20 a Friday. Below are the hashtags, the toolkit, a planning table for campus offices and a one-page printable.

International Education Week 2026 dates and partners

NAFSA’s release, “NAFSA and Partners Continue International Education Week Tradition”, names four partners besides NAFSA: the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA), the Alliance for International Exchange, the Association of International Enrollment Management (AIRC) and the Forum on Education Abroad. It describes IEW as historically a joint effort of the U.S. Departments of State and Education, and says the week gives U.S. institutions a chance to highlight global connections among students, faculty and staff.

The release as we read it does not say whether those two departments sponsor the 2026 week, so we do not claim they do. It also names no 2026 theme.

Which hashtags and toolkit does NAFSA list for IEW 2026?

The release gives the hashtags #IEW2026 and #ChampionIE. It says a toolkit “has been prepared that includes sample posts and graphics”, and links to it from the release at nafsa.org.

Campus planner for International Education Week, day by day

NAFSA lists the week, not a daily program. The activity column below is our own suggestion for offices that want a plan, not a NAFSA schedule.

Day	Date	Our suggested activity
Monday	Nov. 16	Announce the week and post with #IEW2026
Tuesday	Nov. 17	Share a global connection from one department
Wednesday	Nov. 18	Host a student or faculty talk
Thursday	Nov. 19	Feature study abroad or exchange stories with #ChampionIE
Friday	Nov. 20	Thank participants and note what to repeat next year

The printable below carries the dates, the hashtags and a checklist of these ideas.

Is this the same week as American Education Week?

The dates match. The National Education Association (NEA) lists American Education Week 2026 as Nov. 16-20, but it is a separate observance with its own themes; see our American Education Week daily themes. A campus that joins both can check the November 2026 dates list, the November 2026 calendar and the printable school calendar for other dates that week. Thanksgiving is later that month; see when is Thanksgiving.
