  • Pinpoint: the category covers large natural regions of the world, each defined by its climate and the plants that grow there.
  • Pinpoint, a way in: picture a rainforest, a grassland or a frozen plain, then ask what name groups them all.
  • Crossclimb #917: seven four-letter words, and every rung differs from its neighbor by a single letter.
  • Crossclimb #917, middle of the ladder: think of a penalty you pay, flames, a golfer’s warning shout, a word for ripped in the past tense and the quality of a sound or a voice.

LinkedIn’s eight daily games

Descriptions follow LinkedIn’s Help Center. Anyone can play, with or without a LinkedIn account, and there are no prizes; a streak counts your daily wins.

GameWhat you do
QueensPlace one queen in every row, column and colored region
TangoFill a grid with two symbols so each row and column holds an equal number of each
ZipDraw one path that visits the numbers in order and fills every cell
Mini SudokuFill a small grid so each row, column and shaded region has every number once
PinpointGuess the category that links a set of words, with up to five clues
CrossclimbOrder a word ladder where each word changes one letter, then solve the top and bottom
PatchesComplete every shape in the grid from a set of clues
WendConnect letters to find the hidden words, using every letter once

Tips for the logic grids

Queens. Begin with the region that has the fewest cells. When a region lies wholly within one row or column, every other region must skip that line, so strike it out for them.

Tango. LinkedIn’s Tango never allows more than two identical symbols side by side in a row or column. Where two match, put the opposite symbol on both ends. Then count: a line that already holds half of one symbol gets the other in each empty cell.

Zip. Think from both ends: the path starts at 1 and finishes on the highest number, and corners with a single exit fix part of the route.
