Today’s Connections from The New York Times (NYT) is puzzle #1241, for Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, edited by Wyna Liu. The board mixes eleven single words with five longer entries, and the groups run from yellow, the easiest, to purple, the trickiest. Resume, Profile and Interview all look like job-search words, which makes the board harder than it looks. Below are two levels of hints for each color, then the full solution and an explanation of the overlaps in a marked spoiler section.

Today’s 16 words

Carry On, Check, Roller Bag, Interview, Resume, Profile, Office Chair, Food, Menu, Shopping Cart, Credit, Continue, Whelp, Tap Water, Proceed, Stroller

How the game works

Sort the 16 entries into four groups of four. You can make four mistakes. The groups run from yellow to green, blue and purple, with purple the group that depends most on wordplay.

Hints for each group

Yellow

  • Hint 1Four ways to say you are not stopping.
  • Hint 2One is two words, one starts with a P, and one is what you do after a pause.
  • Reveal the yellow groupKeep Going: Carry on, Continue, Proceed, Resume

Green

  • Hint 1Each one rolls along on small round parts.
  • Hint 2One sits at a desk, one is pulled behind you, one is pushed down a store aisle, and one carries a small child.
  • Reveal the green groupThings with Wheels: Office Chair, Roller Bag, Shopping Cart, Stroller

Blue

  • Hint 1Each one is something that comes to your table during a meal.
  • Hint 2One is a list you read before you order, one is what you eat, one comes in a glass, and one arrives when you are ready to pay.
  • Reveal the blue groupThings a Server Brings at a Restaurant: Check, Food, Menu, Tap Water

Purple

  • Hint 1Look at the end of each entry for a short word.
  • Hint 2The short words are what you would click in the menu bar of a computer program: one for changing, one for looking, one for documents and one for assistance.
  • Reveal the purple groupEnding in Menu Bar Headings: Credit, Interview, Profile, Whelp

Solving tips

Show the solving tips

Start with green, because the wheels are easy to picture. Be careful with Resume, which looks like it belongs with Interview and Profile. Menu and Check are traps of their own, since both can pass for computer words. Leave purple for last: once the other three groups are placed, the four entries left over are easy to check against the idea of a hidden word at the end.

Why the traps worked

Job-search words. Resume, Profile and Interview all fit a hunt for work. Resume goes with Carry On, Continue and Proceed, because it also means to start again after a pause. Interview and Profile go with the menu bar group.

Menu and Check. Both sound like computer words. Here they sit with Food and Tap Water, as things a server brings.

The hidden words. Credit ends in edit, Interview ends in view, Profile ends in file and Whelp ends in help. Those four endings are the headings you would find in a program’s menu bar.

We checked the solution against the puzzle’s official data before posting. Puzzle #1242 arrives at midnight.
