National Brush Day is Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, the day after Halloween, according to the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), which published its message on Oct. 30, 2026: “Two minutes. Twice a day. No excuses.” The AGD says the day is celebrated after Halloween to reinforce the importance of children’s oral health. This story adds a toothpaste table from the American Dental Association (ADA), a toothbrush replacement table we computed from Nov. 1, and a free 14-day brushing tracker.
What does National Brush Day ask you to do?
The AGD’s newsroom post is short and gives no founder or start year, so we do not name either. Its call is the one the ADA gives in its Home Oral Care guidance (updated Aug. 8, 2024): brush your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste for two minutes.
The ADA’s MouthHealthy page adds the technique. Use a soft-bristled brush and an ADA-accepted fluoride toothpaste, place the brush at a 45-degree angle to the gums, and clean between your teeth once a day.
Halloween falls on Saturday, Oct. 31 in 2026, so Sunday is the first day of the brushing week. For Halloween night itself, see our Halloween 2026 sunset and trick-or-treat times.
How much toothpaste for children by age?
The ADA’s fluoride page (updated June 14, 2023) gives amounts by age.
| Age | Amount of fluoride toothpaste (ADA) |
|---|---|
| Younger than 3 | No more than a smear, or the size of a grain of rice |
| 3 to 6 | No more than a pea-sized amount |
The fact sheet gives no other age bands, and we do not add any. A dentist can answer for an individual child.
When should you replace your toothbrush?
The ADA’s toothbrush page (updated August 2026) says to replace toothbrushes every three to four months, or more often if the bristles are visibly matted or frayed. It also recommends soft bristles. MouthHealthy gives the same interval.
We computed the dates for a new brush started on National Brush Day:
| Brush started | Three months | Four months |
|---|---|---|
| Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026 | Monday, Feb. 1, 2027 | Monday, Mar. 1, 2027 |
Write the start date on the tracker’s notes line, then mark the window on the February 2027 printable calendar. A frayed brush is replaced sooner, whatever the date says.

The printable has two tick boxes for each day from Sunday, Nov. 1 to Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026, one for the morning and one for bedtime, grouped in two weeks. Each box is a two-minute brush, matching the ADA’s guidance. Print the colour sheet or the ink saver version and stick it on the bathroom mirror. The printable weekly calendar and the November 2026 calendar can hold a dentist visit date.
