Thirteen observances set by the United Nations (UN), one of its agencies or the organizing body fall between Monday, Nov. 16 and Sunday, Nov. 22, 2026, and six of them land on Thursday, Nov. 19. The table lists each one with the group that sets the date, read from that group’s own page on Nov. 7, 2026. A printable planner for the week is below the table.

This list includes only days set by the UN, its agencies or the organizing body. Days that appear only on commercial “national day” calendars are left out, and so are days whose date-setter we could not confirm. As of Nov. 7 we found no U.S. presidential proclamation for this week.

No day on this list falls on Sunday, Nov. 22. The week also follows the UN’s World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2026, whose campaign is “A light that unites us”.

Monday to Wednesday: tolerance, prematurity and antimicrobial resistance

UNESCO says the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution 51/95 in 1996, proclaiming 16 November as International Day for Tolerance. The page does not give a 2026 theme.

World Prematurity Day is on Tuesday, Nov. 17. WHO said on May 28, 2025 that the day “will be officially marked by WHO, Member States, and partners on November 17, starting in 2025,” after the 78th World Health Assembly endorsed it. A 2026 theme is not confirmed.

WHO lists World AMR Awareness Week 2026 as 18 to 24 November, with the theme “One Health, one action: Prevent AMR now.” AMR is antimicrobial resistance, the term WHO uses for the campaign.

Thursday, Nov. 19: six observances on one date

Three of the six follow a third-Thursday rule, and Nov. 19 is the third Thursday of November 2026.

  • World Philosophy Day. UNESCO says it is held “on the third Thursday of November.” Its page announces a lecture at UNESCO headquarters in Paris on 19 November 2026 by philosopher Souleymane Bachir Diagne.
  • World Toilet Day. The UN lists 19 November, and the 2026 theme is “Safe toilets. Equal futures.” Our World Toilet Day story has the sanitation figures.
  • Great American Smokeout. The American Cancer Society holds it “on the third Thursday in November.” We computed Nov. 19 from that rule. See the quit-day planner.
  • National Rural Health Day. NOSORH gives November 19, 2026 and the headline “Celebrating 15 Years of the Power of Rural.”
  • International Men’s Day. The organizers’ site says it is held on November 19 and gives the 2026 theme as “The Future is Everyone.” Our theme comparison also covers the UK organizers’ theme.
  • Beaujolais Nouveau Day. Inter Beaujolais sets the release for the third Thursday of November; see the release dates through 2030.

Friday and Saturday: Africa, children, remembrance and adoption

The UN says its General Assembly proclaimed 20 November “Africa Industrialization Day” in December 1989. No 2026 theme is announced. The UN also lists World Children’s Day on 20 November; our World Children’s Day story reports that the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) had announced no 2026 theme as of Nov. 4.

The Remembering Our Dead site states: “Transgender Day of Remembrance is 20th November 2026.”

National Adoption Day is Saturday, Nov. 21, 2026 on the coalition’s site; see National Adoption Day 2026 for what courts do that day.

The one-page planner repeats the table by day, grouped by who sets each observance in three columns (UN, UNESCO and WHO; U.S. groups; Other organizers), with a Done box and space for notes. Each row carries the source’s own words. Pair it with the November 2026 printable calendar or a printable weekly calendar for the rest of your week.
