Why did the FDA issue the Tractor Wheels warning?

The FDA said it has received several reports describing toddlers ages 1.5 to 2.5 years suffering complete airway obstruction. When chewed, the product reportedly forms a dry, sticky mass that standard choking interventions, including back blows and the Heimlich maneuver, may fail to dislodge. The FDA added that some reported choking incidents have required emergency response intervention and hospital observation.

The company said its decision followed three consumer complaints and that it acted out of an abundance of caution while working with the FDA.

  4. Contact your health care provider to report symptoms and receive care, if your child has any, as the FDA advises.
  5. Call 9-1-1 if someone is choking and other first aid measures to dislodge the obstruction have failed, the FDA says.
