Orange County Public Schools Calendar 2026-27: Thanksgiving Break Nov. 23-27 and Key Dates

Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) students are off Monday through Friday, Nov. 23-27, 2026, for Thanksgiving Break, the next break on the district’s 2026-2027 School Calendar. Winter Break follows from Monday, Dec. 21, 2026 to Friday, Jan. 1, 2027, and the last day of school is Wednesday, May 26, 2027. Today is Saturday, Oct. 31, so Thanksgiving Break starts in 23 days.

This story adds two things the calendar itself does not: a count of school days before each break, counted from Monday, Nov. 2, and the order in which holidays turn into school days if storms close schools. Counting weekends, Thanksgiving Break runs nine days, from Saturday, Nov. 21 through Sunday, Nov. 29. Winter Break runs 16 days, from Saturday, Dec. 19 through Sunday, Jan. 3, with Monday, Jan. 4 off as well. Spring Break runs from Saturday, Mar. 13 through Sunday, Mar. 21, and follows the Friday, Mar. 12 workday, so students have a 10-day stretch from Mar. 12 to Mar. 21. When Thanksgiving falls this year is Thursday, Nov. 26.

How many school days are left before each OCPS break?

The counts below start on Monday, Nov. 2, 2026. A school day here is a weekday that the calendar does not mark as a break, holiday or workday. They are our own arithmetic from the district’s dates, not a figure the district publishes.

After Thanksgiving Break, students have three more school weeks, Nov. 30 to Dec. 18, before Winter Break. After the break, the second semester has 46 school days from Tuesday, Jan. 5 through Thursday, Mar. 11, with the Jan. 18 and Feb. 15 holidays taken out. After Spring Break, the fourth marking period starts Monday, Mar. 22 and has 47 school days through May 26, minus the Apr. 23 student holiday.

Which OCPS holidays turn into school days after a storm?

The OCPS calendar lists severe weather make-up days in priority order. If schools close for a storm and days must be made up, the calendar names these, first to last:

1. Mon., Feb. 15, 2027 (Presidents’ Day)
2. Fri., Apr. 23, 2027 (teacher professional day)
3. Mon., Nov. 23, 2026 (first day of Thanksgiving Break)
4. Tue., Nov. 24, 2026 (second day of Thanksgiving Break)

Families who book travel for the Thanksgiving week should know that the last two make-up days sit inside it. The calendar does not say how the district would announce a change, so watch OCPS announcements before you pay for anything that cannot be moved.

Veterans Day, early release days and other single days off

The OCPS calendar does not mark Wednesday, Nov. 11 as a holiday, so plan on a regular school day unless your school says otherwise. Early release days are not shown on the calendar either; check with your child’s school for its schedule. Two days off differ for adults: on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, district offices close with the schools, while on Presidents’ Day they stay open.
