Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) students have no school Monday, Nov. 23 to Friday, Nov. 27, 2026, Thursday, Dec. 24 to Thursday, Dec. 31, and Friday, Mar. 26 to Friday, Apr. 2, 2027, by the district’s 2026-27 School Year Calendar, adopted by the Board on 12/3/25 and marked “Current as of 6/16/26.” The last day for students is Friday, June 11, 2027. Election Day, Nov. 3, has passed, so the Thanksgiving week is next.

The Board of Education adopted the calendar with classes beginning on August 24, 2026, by an AACPS news release. The district is based in Annapolis, the Anne Arundel County seat.

Why are AACPS students off all of Thanksgiving week?

Schools and central offices close only Nov. 25-27, the Thanksgiving Holiday. The calendar also marks Nov. 23-24 “Schools closed for all students. Parent/Teacher Conferences.” Offices are not listed as closed those two days, so students are off the whole week while staff are not. Before that, Nov. 2 is closed for elementary and middle schools only (“Schools open for high school students.”), and Oct. 26 is a teacher workday.

Every AACPS day off and early dismissal

The calendar marks these days. Closed days are “Schools & Central Offices closed” unless noted.

Which holidays are school days in AACPS?

Rosh Hashanah falls on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, and Juneteenth on Saturday, June 19, 2027, so neither takes a weekday. Veterans Day and Indigenous Peoples’/Columbus Day are school days: the calendar lists them only under “Appropriate Exercises,” so they are not a day off on the calendar.

Are there make-up days at the end of the AACPS year?

The calendar says: “Three make-up days are included at the end of the school year.” It does not name their dates, so the Friday, June 11, 2027 last day for students is the date as printed. We do not print an instructional-day count because the district’s calendar does not give one that we could confirm.

When does the AACPS school year start and end?

Classes begin Monday, Aug. 24, 2026 for grades 1-5 and grades 6 and 9 only. Schools open for grades 1-12 on Tuesday, Aug. 25. The calendar staggers Pre-K and kindergarten starts later. The free printable carries these district dates on one page, and our printable school-year calendar page has more layouts.

When does AACPS start in 2027-28?

The Board of Education approved the 2027-2028 calendar with classes beginning on August 30, 2027, by an AACPS release. Patch reported on May 6, 2026 that students start Aug. 30, 2027 and end on June 14, 2028. For other districts’ spring weeks, see our spring break 2027 roundup.
