Ski Resort Opening Dates 2026-27: Vail, Breckenridge, Park City, Whistler, Aspen

Arapahoe Basin opened Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026, and Keystone opened Friday, Oct. 30; the next openings are Breckenridge and Copper Mountain on Friday, Nov. 6, and Vail Mountain and Mammoth Mountain on Friday, Nov. 13, according to the resorts and Vail Resorts. The table below lists every 2026-27 opening date we could confirm, sorted by date, and the printable at the end of the story turns it into a checklist.

Ski resort opening dates 2026-27, sorted by date

Vail Resorts’ Aug. 18, 2026 release (“Is Winter About to Show Off? Vail Resorts Announces 2026/27 Opening Dates”) lists the planned dates for its own resorts and adds: “Opening dates are subject to change based on weather and conditions.” The other rows come from each resort’s own page. “Planned” and “targeted” are the words the sources use.

Which ski resorts have already opened?

Two so far. Denver7 and OpenSnow both reported that Arapahoe Basin opened on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026, its 80th winter season. Vail Resorts’ newsroom announced on Oct. 28 that Keystone would open on Friday, Oct. 30, and Summit Daily reported on Oct. 30 that it opened that day. We found no confirmation that any other resort in the table has opened.

When do Vail, Breckenridge and Park City open?

Vail Resorts plans Breckenridge on Friday, Nov. 6, and Vail Mountain on Friday, Nov. 13; vail.com says “Opening Day is Nov. 13th!” Park City Mountain in Utah is planned for Friday, Nov. 20, the same day as Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia, Heavenly and Northstar. Kirkwood and Stevens Pass follow on Friday, Dec. 4. Copper Mountain’s site says “Winter opening day is November 6!” and Mammoth Mountain’s says “First chair spins November 13.”

Stowe, Okemo and Mount Snow are “targeting Saturday, November 21,” per a Vail Resorts release dated Oct. 26.

Thanksgiving week ski openers, Nov. 25-27

Several resorts list the days around Thanksgiving, which falls on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2026 (see when is Thanksgiving and the November 2026 printable calendar).

Palisades Tahoe’s page states: “Opening Day is November 25, 2026,” and adds that operations, including available lifts and terrain, are “weather and conditions permitting.” Big Sky’s page shows no year, so we write only that Big Sky lists Nov. 25. Aspen’s page, dated Sept. 9, 2026, says Aspen Mountain and Snowmass “are scheduled to open for the season on Nov. 26, 2026.” For getting there that week, see the Thanksgiving travel days story.

Which resorts have no 2026-27 date yet?

Winter Park’s hours page says its first day of skiing and riding for winter 26/27 is “as soon as possible,” with no date. Killington and Loveland have not announced a 2026-27 opening date that we could confirm; the Loveland site gives none. Check each resort’s page before you book.

Jackson Hole’s Friday, Nov. 27 date comes from SnowBrains and Teton Gravity Research, both dated Aug. 10, 2026. We could not reach the resort’s own page, so treat it as reported.

When do Aspen’s mountains close?

Aspen Snowmass lists closing dates for 2027, “as conditions allow”: Buttermilk on April 4, Aspen Highlands and Snowmass on April 11, and Aspen Mountain on April 18. Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk open on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2026. For December planning, use the December 2026 printable calendar.
