Washoe County School District Calendar 2026-27: Two-Week Spring Break, Last Day June 4

Washoe County School District (WCSD) in Reno, Nevada, has Thanksgiving break from Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 25-27, 2026, winter break from Monday, Dec. 21, 2026 through Friday, Jan. 1, 2027, and spring break from Monday, March 22 through Friday, April 2, 2027, according to the district’s “2026-2027 Balanced Calendar” (footer “WCSD 9/16/2026”). The last day of school for students on that calendar is Friday, June 4, 2027.

Fall break, Oct. 5-9, has passed, and so have the professional development days on Oct. 12 and Nov. 3. The next day off is Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11. This story adds our count of every weekday without students, the three professional development days that Nevada counts as school days, and what the June contingency days mean for the last day. The sheet also lists “October 23, 26-29 - Conference Week” and “February 23 - College and Career Readiness”; neither is listed as a day off.

Counting each weekday above, there are 37 weekdays without students between Aug. 10, 2026 and June 4, 2027, or 39 with the fire closure. December has the most: Dec. 18 plus winter break takes 10 of its weekdays.

Spring break is split between two months, so the March 2027 printable calendar shows only its first eight weekdays. The two-week length is the district’s: “March 22 April 2 - Spring Break” appears on both the March and April grids.

Which Washoe County professional development days count as school days?

The footnote on the calendar cites the Nevada Administrative Code (NAC). It reads: “October 12, 2026, November 3, 2026 and January 4, 2027 are non-student days used for professional development but counted as school days in session per NAC 387.140.” The district’s totals include those three days: 180 days in all, 83 in the first semester and 97 in the second.

So the 180 is not 180 days with students in the classroom. Taking the footnote at its word, three of the 180 are non-student days. Two of the three sit right after a break: Oct. 12 followed fall break and Jan. 4 follows winter break, so students are out one day longer than the break dates alone show (our reading). Students are out for 18 days in a row from Friday, Dec. 18 through Monday, Jan. 4, by our count.

How many school days fall between Washoe County breaks?

The long stretch after winter break, a little more than 10 weeks, is the longest of the five stretches.

What changed about the Washoe County last day of school?

On Aug. 7, 2026, 2News (KTVN) reported that “Students on the Balanced Calendar will finish the school year on Friday, June 4, 2027,” and that Incline Village students finish “Wednesday, June 9, 2027.” News4 (KRNV) reported the same dates the same day. 2News also reported that Gerlach K-12 will have no changes to its calendar.

The district, 2News wrote, “updated its calendars to remove uncertainty around possible changes to the final day of classes.” Contingency days “are built into the school year, and the final scheduled day for students will remain unchanged.” On the Balanced Calendar, “June 2 - 4 Contingency Days in Session” and “June 4 - Last Day of School” sit in the same week. June has four school days in the district’s count, June 1 to 4, so the contingency days are inside the 180, not added after it.

The sheet lists “June 7 - 9 - Teacher Work Days if school is canceled” as additional possible teacher work days. Those are for teachers. The date for students stays June 4.

Does WCSD have a printable school-year calendar?

The printable puts the first and last day, the breaks, the holidays and the three professional development days on an 11-month sheet, with space to fill in conference week.
