What Calendar Year Is the Same as 2027? 2021 and 2010 Match Day for Day
2021 and 2010 have the same calendar as 2027: all three have 365 days and start on a Friday. Full list of matching years, the next repeat and what to check.

2021 and 2010 have the same calendar as 2027. All three are common years of 365 days that begin on Friday, Jan. 1, so every date in 2027 falls on the same day of the week as it did in 2021 and in 2010. The next year to repeat the 2027 calendar is 2038.
That makes an old 2021 wall calendar usable as a weekday grid for 2027. The holidays printed on it are another matter, and a few of them are wrong for 2027 (see below).
Which years have the same calendar as 2027?
Two years share a calendar when both have the same number of days and Jan. 1 falls on the same weekday. We checked every year from 1927 to 2126 against those two tests, using the Gregorian leap-year rule published by the U.S. Naval Observatory (USNO). These 21 years match 2027:
| Matching year | How far from 2027 |
|---|---|
| 1937 | 90 years earlier |
| 1943 | 84 years earlier |
| 1954 | 73 years earlier |
| 1965 | 62 years earlier |
| 1971 | 56 years earlier |
| 1982 | 45 years earlier |
| 1993 | 34 years earlier |
| 1999 | 28 years earlier |
| 2010 | 17 years earlier |
| 2021 | 6 years earlier |
| 2038 | 11 years later |
| 2049 | 22 years later |
| 2055 | 28 years later |
| 2066 | 39 years later |
| 2077 | 50 years later |
| 2083 | 56 years later |
| 2094 | 67 years later |
| 2100 | 73 years later |
| 2106 | 79 years later |
| 2117 | 90 years later |
| 2123 | 96 years later |
For most people 2021 is the useful one. It is recent enough that a printed copy may still be in a drawer, and its months start on the same weekdays as 2027’s: January on Friday, February on Monday, March on Monday, April on Thursday, and so on through December, which starts on a Wednesday in both years.
Can you reuse a 2021 calendar in 2027?
Yes, for the dates and weekdays. Friday, Jan. 1, 2021 becomes Friday, Jan. 1, 2027; Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021 becomes Thursday, Nov. 11, 2027; Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021 becomes Saturday, Dec. 25, 2027. Every square on the grid carries over.
What you should cross out or correct:
- Easter and the days around it. Easter Sunday was April 4 in 2021 and is March 28 in 2027. The date comes from the church’s lunar tables, so it moves even when the weekdays repeat. We computed both dates with the method USNO publishes on its Date of Easter page; our Easter date page lists other years.
- Juneteenth. A calendar printed before mid-June 2021 may not show it. Juneteenth National Independence Day became a federal holiday when Public Law 117-17 was signed on June 17, 2021. In 2027, June 19 is a Saturday, so federal offices observe it on Friday, June 18.
- Lunar and religious dates. Lunar New Year, Ramadan, Passover, Rosh Hashanah, Diwali and Hanukkah follow lunar or lunisolar calendars and land on different dates each year.
- Local and one-off dates. School breaks, election days, sports schedules and pay dates are set year by year.
Holidays fixed to a date or to a weekday rule do repeat. Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November, Nov. 25 in both years. Christmas falls on a Saturday in both years, so the federal day off is Friday, Dec. 24 each time. Our list of 2027 federal holidays and observed dates has every observed date from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), including New Year’s Day 2028, observed on Friday, Dec. 31, 2027.
If you’d rather start clean, the 2027 printable yearly calendar fits the whole year on one page, and the January 2027 calendar starts the month-by-month set.
Why do some years have the same calendar?
A common year has 365 days: 52 weeks plus one day. So each common year starts one weekday later than the year before. A leap year has 366 days, 52 weeks plus two, and pushes the next year’s start two weekdays later.
That is why the gaps between matches are uneven: 6 years from 2021 to 2027, then 11 years to 2038, then 11 years to 2049, then 6 years to 2055. Leap days fall in different spots of each stretch, so the start day reaches Friday again after different counts.
Century years add one more twist. Under the Gregorian rule USNO describes, a year divisible by 100 is a leap year only if it is also divisible by 400. 2000 was a leap year; 2100 will not be. That missing leap day is why 2100 starts on a Friday and joins the 2027 list, and why the pattern after it shifts again.
Is 2027 a leap year?
No. 2027 has 365 days. It is not divisible by 4, so there is no Feb. 29. The year starts on Friday, Jan. 1 and ends on Friday, Dec. 31.
The next leap year is 2028, which starts on a Saturday. Its calendar matches no year in the 2027 list, because a leap year can only share a calendar with another leap year.
When will the 2027 calendar repeat?
The next repeat is 2038, 11 years after 2027. After that come 2049 and 2055. A 2027 calendar kept in good shape will work as a weekday grid in all three, with the same holiday checks as above.
For other planning tools for next year, the 2027 week numbers calendar shows each week numbered under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) system, and the 2027 Julian date calendar numbers every day from 1 to 365.
