Today’s Wordle from The New York Times (NYT) is puzzle #1962, for Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, edited by Tracy Bennett. The answer has one repeated letter, and the only vowel in it shows up twice, which changes how you plan your first guesses. Take the clues one at a time, and only scroll to the last section if you want the answer itself.

How Wordle works

You get six tries to find a five-letter word. After each guess, a green tile means the right letter in the right spot, yellow means the letter is in the word but in another spot, and gray means it is not in the word at all. A letter that appears twice is only marked twice if you guess it twice. Gray tiles matter too.

Six clues, gentle to strong

  1. Part of speechit is a verb.
  2. Topicto move or slide a short way.
  3. Vowelsone vowel letter, O, and it appears twice. The two Os sit side by side in the third and fourth spots.
  4. Repeated letteryes, the O.
  5. First letterS.
  6. Strong nudgewhat you say to a friend on a crowded bench: “Can you ___ over?”

Guessing tips for today

The word starts with S and ends with T, so a guess with S first and T last can turn two tiles green right away. Because the O repeats, you can spend one guess on a word with a double O in the middle to test it. Two of the five letters are the same, so only four different letters need finding. That helps.
