BCPS Calendar 2026-27: Winter Break Dec. 24 to Jan. 1, Spring Break March 22-29

Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) students are off from Thursday, Dec. 24, 2026 through Friday, Jan. 1, 2027, and the last day of classes is Thursday, June 17, 2027, according to the district’s “2026-2027 School Year Calendar, Pre-Labor Day Start” (PDF), adopted Nov. 4, 2025. The first day for students was Monday, Aug. 31, 2026. June 17 assumes all three emergency closure days are used; with none, the year ends Monday, June 14. Today, Tuesday, Nov. 3, is Election Day, and BCPS schools and offices are closed.

What are the BCPS winter break dates for 2026?

The calendar prints “Winter Break Begins at the End of the School Day” on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2026, and “Schools Reopen” on Monday, Jan. 4, 2027. It does not print a single span of days off, so the span is our reading: students are off Thursday, Dec. 24 through Friday, Jan. 1, seven weekdays, and are back Monday, Jan. 4. Lay out the weeks on the December 2026 calendar. The Baltimore County dates match the Dec. 24-Jan. 1 break in Montgomery County; our winter break 2026 roundup compares other large districts.

When is BCPS spring break in 2027?

Spring break begins at the end of the school day on Friday, March 19, 2027, and schools reopen Tuesday, March 30. From those two dates we read that students are off Monday, March 22 through Monday, March 29, six weekdays. Easter Sunday, March 28, 2027, falls inside the break, and so does Maryland Day on Thursday, March 25, which the calendar marks as observed with exercises, not as a closure. Mark the week on the March 2027 calendar. Early dismissal follows on Friday, April 2.

When is the last day of school at BCPS in 2027?

Thursday, June 17, 2027 is the last day of classes. It is an assessment day, and schools dismiss 3 hours early. The calendar builds in three emergency closure days, and the June 17 date assumes all three are used. Its own note says: “If no emergency closure days occur, the school year will end for students on Monday, June 14, 2027.”

If the district uses	Last day of classes	Source note
All three emergency closure days	Thu., June 17, 2027	Make-up days are June 15, 16 and 17
None	Mon., June 14, 2027	Calendar’s own wording

The calendar also says that beyond three closures, virtual learning applies, up to eight days. Seniors finish earlier: Friday, May 21, 2027 is the last day for seniors. Friday, June 18, 2027 is Juneteenth observed, and schools and offices are closed.

The calendar counts 184 student days for high school and middle school and 183 for elementary, before the three emergency closure days. Subtract them and the totals are 181 and 180.

When did BCPS adopt the 2026-27 calendar, and when do students start?

The PDF is headed “Adopted: 11/04/25,” and Fox Baltimore reported on Nov. 5, 2025 that the Board of Education approved the calendar. The district’s Back2BCPS page says: “The 2026-2027 school year begins on August 31!” The first full day of kindergarten, when transportation begins, is Wednesday, Sept. 2. The district links the calendar from its calendars page. Our free printable puts the breaks, no-school days, early dismissals and last days on one page, and its note names the same BCPS calendar.
