Black Friday 2026 Price Match: Best Buy Matches Competitors, Walmart and Target Do Not

Of Target, Walmart and Best Buy, only Best Buy matches a competitor’s price, and its Price Match Guarantee, effective Oct. 30, 2026, excludes Black Friday pricing and competitor prices from the Thursday before Thanksgiving through the Monday after. Walmart and Target match only their own prices. We read each policy on the retailer’s own site on Oct. 30, 2026; Amazon’s page would not load.

This story covers matching a rival’s lower price before or at purchase. For refunds of the difference after you buy, see the post-purchase price adjustment policies. Black Friday is Fri., Nov. 27, 2026; see when is Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Mon., Nov. 30.

What does Best Buy’s price match cover on Black Friday weekend?

Best Buy matches “key online and local competitors” on its Qualified Competitor list. The product must be “a matching brand, model number and color.” The policy names the list on a separate page, so check it before you go.

Two exclusions matter for the holiday. Best Buy does not match “items denoted as Black Friday pricing,” and it does not match “items for sale at a Qualified Competitor the Thursday before Thanksgiving Day through the Monday after Thanksgiving.” Thanksgiving is Thu., Nov. 26, 2026, and the Monday after is Mon., Nov. 30.

Best Buy also lists Marketplace products from third-party sellers, retailers not on the list, membership program pricing, financing, bundles, subscriptions, clearance, open-box, refurbished and gift card offers as excluded.

Its Holiday Price Match Guarantee says most products bought between Oct. 30 and Dec. 31 can be price matched through Jan. 15. For BestBuy.com, ask through Best Buy Chat or 1-888-237-8289. In a store, show the Qualified Competitor’s ad or website to any employee.

Does Walmart price match competitors or Black Friday deals?

No. Walmart’s Price Match Policy, in its Walmart Policies page, says: “Sorry, we do not match: Competitor’s online or in-store prices.” U.S. stores match the price of an identical item on Walmart.com when you ask at checkout and the item is in stock. The policy limits it to one per customer, per item, per day, and the store manager decides.

Not matched: special events “(including but not limited to clearance, Rollback, Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals…),” Marketplace and third-party sellers, bundles, rebates, financing, percentage-off or buy-one-get-one ads without a price, and other Walmart stores. The page is marked “Updated: June 8, 2023,” and Walmart reserves the right to change the policy at any time.

Does Target price match Amazon or other stores?

No. Target’s Price Match Guarantee answers the competitor question with “No; an item’s price must be validated by a team member on Target.com or Target’s digital ad.” It matches Target.com prices on in-store purchases and in-store prices for Target.com purchases. Target Circle deals that apply automatically can be matched with proof of membership.

Target lists these as not matched: a lower price at a different Target store, items with a promotional Target GiftCard, Registry completion coupons and other Target coupons, Target Circle Bonuses, clearance, closeout, liquidation, refurbished or typographical-error prices, and Target Plus items. Target.com matches are not available in Alaska and Hawaii, and “other exclusions may apply.”

Ask at checkout or at Guest Services. Target says screenshots or pictures cannot be accepted, so have the digital ad, Target.com or the Target App ready. The phone line is 1-800-591-3869.

What about Amazon’s price matching?

Amazon’s Price Matching help page returned a 503 error when we checked on Oct. 30, 2026. Its current terms are not confirmed, so this story makes no claim about them.

What counts as an identical item?

The policies set the test, and it differs by store.

Retailer	Identical means
Best Buy	A matching brand, model number and color
Target	Identical in brand, size, weight, color, quantity and model number
Walmart	An identical item that is in stock on Walmart.com

How do you ask for a price match before paying?

1. Check the policy for the store you are in; only Best Buy matches a competitor.
2. Confirm the item is identical and the seller is not a Marketplace or third-party seller.
3. Check the date: Best Buy excludes Black Friday pricing and competitor items from the Thursday before Thanksgiving through Mon., Nov. 30.
4. Open the live ad or website on your phone. Target does not accept screenshots or pictures.
5. Ask before you pay: at checkout at Walmart and Target, or through chat, phone or an employee at Best Buy.
6. Keep your receipt or order number for any later request.

The printable below puts these checks on one page. Dates for the sales themselves are in our Black Friday 2026 ad tracker, and the November 2026 printable calendar has room to mark them.
