Today’s Blossom from Merriam-Webster, for Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026, puts V in the center with the petals E, G, I, N, R and T. Six everyday words use all seven letters, from 8 to 11 letters long. Below are the rules, words to try and hints for the pangrams, which are revealed in a marked spoiler section at the end.

How Blossom works

You get 12 words to score as many points as you can. Each word must be at least four letters long and include the center letter, and letters can be used more than once. Proper nouns, hyphenated words and offensive words do not count. Longer words score more, a pangram, a word that uses all seven letters, earns 7 extra points, and each use of the highlighted bonus petal earns 5 more, so check which petal is lit before each word.

Words to try

With V in the middle and E, G, I, N, R and T around it, plenty of short words fall out quickly: Vine, Rive, Vent, Veer, Ever, Even and Vein. Longer ones score more, so look for Event, River, Riven, Giver, Given, Verge, Nerve, Invent, Grieve, Vetting and Veering. Words with repeated letters, such as Even, Event and Giving, collect the petal bonus twice when the repeated letter is the one highlighted. Save a pangram for a turn when a common petal such as E or I is lit.

Pangram hints

• Pangram 1 (8 letters): holding your attention completely, said of a story or a film.
• Pangram 2 (9 letters): turning something upside down or reversing its order.
• Pangram 3 (9 letters): going back to an earlier state or habit.
• Pangram 4 (10 letters): getting something back, the way a dog fetches a thrown ball.
• Pangram 5 (11 letters): stepping in between two sides to change how things turn out.
• Pangram 6 (11 letters): making something over from scratch, as a company might do with its image.
