Net 30, 60 and 90 Due Dates in 2027: A Calendar for Invoices

A Net 30 invoice dated Jan. 1, 2027 falls due on Sunday, Jan. 31. Tables give net 15, 30, 60 and 90 due dates for 24 invoice dates, with holiday flags.

A Net 30 invoice dated Friday, Jan. 1, 2027 is due Sunday, Jan. 31, 30 calendar days later, and the Treasury Bureau of the Fiscal Service says a payment that falls due on a weekend or holiday “is due on the following business day,” here Monday, Feb. 1. This guide counts calendar days the way Treasury’s Prompt Payment rules do and gives the net 15, 30, 60 and 90 due dates for an invoice dated on the 1st and the 15th of every month of 2027. Those dates are our own computation. Private net terms follow your contract, so check it for the start day and the weekend rule.

How do you calculate a net 30 due date?

Add the number of calendar days to the invoice date. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) uses the term “Net 30 account” in a 2016 newsroom article and lists net 45, net 60 and net 90 as longer terms. Net 60 and net 90 in this guide use the same count with 60 or 90 days.

Treasury’s frequently asked questions page, last updated March 6, 2026, gives the federal version of the rule in four lines:

  • A payment is due “30 days after the agency has received a proper invoice.”
  • “‘Day’ means a calendar day including weekends and federal holidays.”
  • When there is no receipt date, “the invoice is deemed ‘received’ on the invoice date.”
  • A payment due on a weekend or holiday “is due on the following business day.”

The regulation says the same. Under Title 5 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), section 1315.4, the payment period begins on the date of receipt of a proper invoice, the due date is 30 days after the start of the payment period when the contract does not specify one, and payments falling due on a weekend or federal holiday may be made on the following business day without late payment interest penalties.

The Prompt Payment rule is written for federal agencies paying their vendors. A private invoice can start the clock on a different day or move weekend due dates differently, so the tables below are a worked example of calendar-day counting, not a rule for your contract. To count business days instead of calendar days, see how many business days are in a year.

Net 15, 30, 60 and 90 due dates for invoices dated in 2027

Each row is an invoice dated on the 1st or the 15th, counted as that date plus 15, 30, 60 or 90 calendar days. Bold dates land on a Saturday, a Sunday or a non-business day, and the text after them gives the next business day. We treated the 11 federal holidays in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) 2027 schedule as non-business days, plus Friday, Dec. 31, 2027, which OPM’s 2028 tab lists as the observed date for New Year’s Day 2028. The list is in our federal holidays 2027 guide. A few due dates fall in 2028 and are marked with the year; those were checked for weekends only, because the sources we used do not give the 2028 holiday list.

How many 2027 due dates land on a weekend or holiday?

Of the 96 due dates in the tables (24 invoice dates times 4 terms), 32 fall on a Saturday, a Sunday or a federal non-business day. Twelve land on a Saturday and 16 on a Sunday. Four land on a holiday: Memorial Day, Mon., May 31, twice, and the Dec. 31, 2027 observed day, twice.

Net 30 has the most in this sample, 10 of 24. That comes from counting the 1st and the 15th, not from a general rule: 30 days is 4 weeks and 2 days, so each due date falls two weekdays later in the week than its invoice date.

Three due dates move by more than a weekend:

  • Net 15 on an invoice dated Fri., Jan. 1: Sat., Jan. 16, then Mon., Jan. 18 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so it moves to Tue., Jan. 19.
  • Net 30 on an invoice dated Wed., Dec. 1: Fri., Dec. 31 is the observed New Year’s Day 2028, so it moves to Mon., Jan. 3, 2028.
  • Net 60 on an invoice dated Mon., Nov. 1: the same Fri., Dec. 31 moves to Mon., Jan. 3, 2028.

A leap day shows up once: Net 90 on an invoice dated Wed., Dec. 1, 2027 is due Tue., Feb. 29, 2028.

Which invoice dates fall due on a 2027 federal holiday?

Work backward when you want to avoid a holiday or a weekend. The table lists the invoice date that lands exactly on each 2027 non-business day at each term. An invoice dated on one of those days would, under the federal rule, have its due date move to the next business day. The same table is on the printable below.

Several invoice dates in the table are weekends themselves. A Net 30 invoice dated Saturday, Dec. 19, 2026 comes due on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Mon., Jan. 18, 2027, and the federal rule moves it to Tue., Jan. 19.

What does the federal rule say about late payment interest?

The regulation says late payments get interest automatically. On the Treasury Prompt Payment page, updated June 30, 2026, the Prompt Payment interest rate for July 1 to Dec. 31, 2026 is 4.75%. Treasury has not announced the rate for Jan. 1 to June 30, 2027, so 4.75% is the 2026 half-year rate and should not be read as a 2027 figure. The interest applies to federal agency payments; late fees on a private invoice are whatever the contract says.

When do longer terms like net 60 and net 90 come up?

The SBA article, titled “How Net 30 Accounts Help Conserve Business Cash Flow” and dated Sept. 13, 2016, says: “Negotiate the longest payback terms possible such as net 45, net 60 or even net 90 days.” That is a 2016 statement from the agency, not a rule. In the tables, net 60 and net 90 each land on a non-business day 8 times in 24 invoice dates, against 10 for net 30.

The one-page printable lists the invoice date for each 2027 non-business day at net 15, 30, 60 and 90 days, with tick boxes to mark the ones you have checked. Put the due dates on a printable yearly calendar or a monthly page such as the January printable calendar, and add the dates from the business days in November and December 2026 guide for invoices you are sending now.

Frequently asked questions

Do net 30 days include weekends?

Under the federal rule, yes. The Treasury Bureau of the Fiscal Service says a day means a calendar day including weekends and federal holidays. For a private invoice, check what the contract says.

What if a net 30 due date falls on a Saturday or Sunday?

For federal payments, Treasury says a payment due on a weekend or holiday is due on the following business day. In 2027, Jan. 31 and Feb. 14 are Sundays, so a Net 30 invoice dated Jan. 1 is due Mon., Feb. 1 and one dated Jan. 15 is due Tue., Feb. 16 after Washington's Birthday.

Is Dec. 31, 2027 a federal holiday?

It is the observed date for New Year's Day 2028, according to the 2028 tab of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) schedule, because Jan. 1, 2028 is a Saturday. We treat it as a non-business day in the tables.

What is the late-payment interest rate for 2027?

Treasury has not announced the Jan. 1 to June 30, 2027 Prompt Payment rate. The rate for July 1 to Dec. 31, 2026 is 4.75%.

Does the Prompt Payment rule apply to my business invoices?

No. It is written for federal agencies paying their vendors. Private net terms follow your contract, so use the federal rule here as an example of how calendar days and weekends can be counted.
