New Movies in Theaters December 2026: Avengers: Doomsday, Dune: Part Three, Werwulf

Five films list a December 2026 theater date on official pages, from “Violent Night 2” on Friday, Dec. 4 to “Werwulf” on Friday, Dec. 25, and Disney’s page puts “Avengers: Doomsday” on Friday, Dec. 18. Legendary lists “Dune: Part Three” for that same day. The table below sorts every confirmed date by weekday, studio and release type, and a free printable calendar follows it.

Which movies open in theaters in December 2026?

Each row uses the studio’s or distributor’s own page, except “Artificial,” which two newsrooms report (see the note under the table).

Date	Weekday	Film	Studio	Release type	Source
Dec. 4	Friday	Violent Night 2	Universal Pictures	Theaters	violentnightmovie.com
Dec. 18	Friday	Avengers: Doomsday	Marvel Studios, Walt Disney Studios	Theaters	movies.disney.com
Dec. 18	Friday	Dune: Part Three	Legendary, distributed by Warner Bros.	Theaters	legendary.com
Dec. 23	Wednesday	The Angry Birds Movie 3	Paramount	Theaters	paramount.com
Dec. 25	Friday	Werwulf	Focus Features	Theaters	focusfeatures.com
Dec. 25	Friday	Artificial	Neon	Limited (reported)	Variety; Deadline, Oct. 2026

Weekdays are our calculation from the dates. Variety and Deadline both list “Artificial,” directed by Luca Guadagnino, for Dec. 25 in a limited release; a wide date is not confirmed, and we did not find the date on a Neon page. Sony Pictures has not posted a date for “Jumanji: Open World” on a page we could read, so it is not in the table yet, and we will add it once Sony confirms it.

Print the December 2026 movie release calendar

The printable marks the six dates above on a December grid, with a legend that names the film for each marker. Print it next to a December 2026 calendar and pick which Friday to go. The earlier month is in our November 2026 theater guide.

Why do Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three open on Dec. 18?

Two studio tentpoles list the same Friday. Disney’s page for “Avengers: Doomsday” says “Release Date: December 18, 2026.” TheWrap reported on May 22, 2025 that Marvel Studios had pushed the film to that date, and it was set for May 1, 2026 before the move.

Legendary’s page for “Dune: Part Three” shows “Original Release: December 18, 2026” and names Warner Bros. as distributor. The A.V. Club reported on March 19, 2026 that the two films share the day. For the Marvel film’s runtime, tickets and a countdown, see our Avengers: Doomsday release date story.

Which movies open the week of Christmas 2026?

Christmas Day 2026 is Friday, Dec. 25; see when is Christmas Day for the holiday itself. Two dates fall in that week.

• “The Angry Birds Movie 3,” Wednesday, Dec. 23. Paramount’s page lists “In Theatres” and “Dec 23, 2026.”
• “Werwulf,” Friday, Dec. 25. Focus Features lists “Dec 25, 2026 | Horror” on a page titled “Werwulf | Get 35mm Tickets Now.” The film is from director Robert Eggers.
• “Artificial,” Friday, Dec. 25, limited. Variety’s headline reads “Neon Sets Christmas Day Release,” and Deadline’s review lists the same date.

For streaming on the same days, see our Netflix Christmas movies guide for 2026.

Did Ice Age: Boiling Point leave December 2026?

Disney’s page for “Ice Age: Boiling Point” lists “Release Date: February 5, 2027.” It is not a December 2026 title and is not in the table.

Where the December 2026 movie dates come from

Every date in the table comes from the studio or distributor page named in its row, checked Nov. 3, 2026; “Artificial” comes from Variety and Deadline. Studios can move release dates, so check the film’s page before you buy tickets.
