What did Punxsutawney Phil predict in 2026?

The Associated Press (AP) reported on Feb. 2, 2026 that Phil saw his shadow, which forecasts six more weeks of winter. The Washington Times ran a report with the same result. The 2027 forecast has not happened yet, and nothing here predicts it.

How accurate is Punxsutawney Phil?

NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) says: “On average, Phil has gotten it right 30% of the time over the past 10 years.” That figure comes from NCEI’s page “Groundhog Day Forecasts and Climate History,” updated on Jan. 30, 2026, so it covers the 10 years up to that update and will shift as new forecasts are scored.

When do the six more weeks end in 2027?

Tradition says a shadow means six more weeks of winter. Counting 42 days from Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2027 lands on Tuesday, March 16, 2027.
