Today’s Quordle from Merriam-Webster is puzzle #1741, for Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026. The four words start with A, S, C and R, and every one of them has an A inside. The clues below are grouped by each word’s first letter, because the published solutions we checked agree on the words, but only one says which board each word is on. The answers are in a marked spoiler section at the end.

How Quordle works

You have nine guesses to solve four five-letter words. Every guess is entered on all four boards at once, and the tiles color like Wordle’s: green for the right letter in the right spot, yellow for a letter in the wrong spot, gray for a letter not in that word.

Clues for each word

The word that starts with A

• Letters: starts with A, ends with E, and has an N, an I and an M inside.
• Meaning: a style of animation that comes from Japan.

The word that starts with S

• Letters: starts with S, ends with M, and has a W, an A and an R inside.
• Meaning: a large group of insects, such as bees, moving together; also a crowd moving in a mass.

The word that starts with C

• Letters: starts with C, ends with K, and has an H, an A and an L inside.
• Meaning: a soft white limestone, or a stick of it used for writing on a blackboard.

The word that starts with R

• Letters: starts with R, ends with H, and has two A’s and a J inside; it is the only word today that repeats a letter.
• Meaning: a historical title for an Indian king or prince.

A starter strategy for today

A first guess such as Slate, with S, L, A, T and E, puts at least one letter into all four boards, and its A lands on every board. A second guess such as Chimp, which adds C, H, I, M and P, also touches all four boards: I and M on one, M on another, C and H on a third, and H on the fourth. Solve the board with the most green first, and do not spend a guess on a board that is already solved.
