Seminole County Public Schools Calendar 2026-27: Winter Break, Spring Break and Last Day

Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) in Florida starts classes Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, closes schools Dec. 21-31 for winter break and March 15-19, 2027 for spring break, and ends the year for students Tuesday, May 25, 2027. Those dates come from the district’s “Student Calendar 2026-2027, Board Approved 5/13/2025,” linked from its calendar page. Students return from winter break Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2027.

Some websites give a different last day and a longer winter break. The district’s PDF shows May 25 as the last day of student attendance; May 27 is a teacher post-planning day. It shows classes resuming Jan. 6, not later.

The calendar lists “Schools Closed/Winter Break” for Dec. 21-31, “School System Closed” for Jan. 1, and Jan. 4 and 5 as closed for students. Spring break is March 15-19, and March 22 is closed for students as a teacher workday. Return days are read from the calendar, which marks no closure on those dates. Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026, and Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2027, are not on the calendar as closures. Memorial Day falls after the last student day. Plan around the break on the printable school-year calendar.

What are Seminole County’s make-up days?

The calendar marks five days as “Student Make-up Day, if needed.” Make-up days like these replace school days lost to closures, such as a hurricane week; the PDF does not name the trigger. The calendar does not say any has been used or how many lost days would trigger each one.

Closed schools or closed school system: what is the difference?

The calendar uses two labels. “Schools Closed” appears on Nov. 23-25, Dec. 21-31 and March 15-19, and “School System Closed” on Sept. 7, Nov. 26-27, Jan. 1, Jan. 18 and Feb. 15. “Schools Closed for Students/Teacher Workday” marks Oct. 12, Jan. 4, Jan. 5 and March 22: no students, but a workday for teachers. The PDF does not define the labels beyond that.

Which Seminole County days end early?

The calendar lists “Early Dismissal for Students” on Dec. 16-18, 2026, and May 21, 24 and 25, 2027. It does not give dismissal times in the PDF. May 25, the last day, is one of them.

What is the 2027-28 Seminole County school calendar?

The district’s “Student Calendar 2027-2028,” approved 5/13/25, has the first day on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2027. Winter break is Dec. 20-31, 2027, and classes resume Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2028.
