Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for December 2026 load on each state’s standing monthly schedule, as published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS): Alaska, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont and the U.S. Virgin Islands issue to every household on Tuesday, Dec. 1. The ranges for Florida and Texas include Christmas Day, Friday, Dec. 25, so those two rows are flagged below.
The days are each state’s standing monthly schedule as published by FNS; the USDA pages could not be opened by automated tools on Oct. 31, so the days below come from the same schedule used in our November 2026 SNAP story, whose FNS page shows a last-updated date of July 26, 2024. The PDF itself ends with “Updated: November 4, 2021.” Each state can change its days, and the notice from your state agency or your Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) portal is final.
What are the SNAP deposit days in each state in December 2026?
December 1, 2026 is a Tuesday. The table gives each place’s days from the FNS schedule and the weekday of the first and last scheduled day, computed for December 2026. “Falls on Christmas” means the range includes the 25th; your household’s own day depends on the digit or letter your state uses, which is in the FNS PDF and your state’s notice.

Pennsylvania counts business days, so its first 10 business days run from Tuesday, Dec. 1 to Monday, Dec. 14 when weekends are skipped, as the PDF describes; its counties use one, two or ten pay-day cycles. New York City posts on 13 days in the first two weeks of the month, and the city publishes its own schedule. Texas lists one set of days for households certified after June 1, 2020 (16th to 28th) and another for earlier households (1st to 15th). For states with a digit or letter rule, such as Hawaii, Illinois and Utah, the first and last days are the ends of the listed days.
Does Christmas Day or New Year’s Day change SNAP deposits?
Christmas Day, Friday, Dec. 25, 2026, and New Year’s Day, Friday, Jan. 1, 2027, are federal holidays, according to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Whether a state moves a deposit that falls on a holiday depends on the state, so check your state agency.
The FNS document names no Christmas shift for any state. It does say Pennsylvania’s first 10 business days exclude weekends and holidays, and that New York City posts on days that are not Sundays or holidays. For Puerto Rico it says: “Usually for Holy Friday, Thanksgiving and New Year, benefits are available another day instead the holiday.” That sentence does not name Christmas Day. Our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2026 store hours story covers the holiday hours. For another federal benefit, see our December 2026 Social Security payment schedule.
How much SNAP can a household get in December 2026?
The maximum monthly benefit rose on Oct. 1, 2026, for fiscal year 2027. The USDA page for the table was not reachable, so these figures rest on two newsrooms that agree. Colorado Politics (Sept. 28, 2026) and News4Jax (Oct. 2, 2026) both report the amounts for the 48 states and the District of Columbia (DC).
| Household size | Maximum monthly benefit from Oct. 1, 2026 | Before the increase |
|---|---|---|
| 1 person | $306 | $298 |
| 4 people | $1,023 | $994 |
These are maximum monthly benefits for the 48 states and DC. We left out the other household sizes and Alaska and Hawaii because the two reports did not give us figures we could confirm for them.
Which weekend and holiday dates fall in December 2026?
The weekend dates in December 2026 are Dec. 5 and 6, 12 and 13, 19 and 20, and 26 and 27. A range in the table can include those days, and the FNS document gives no weekend shift rule for most states. Mark your day on the December 2026 printable calendar or on a printable weekly calendar so you can see which week it lands in.
