In this article
The maximum monthly Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefit for fiscal year (FY) 2027, which runs from Oct. 1, 2026 to Sept. 30, 2027, is $306 for one person and $1,023 for a household of four in the 48 states and the District of Columbia (DC), according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS). The agency’s eligibility page puts the gross monthly income limit at $1,729 for one person and $3,575 for four, and the net limit at $1,330 and $2,750.
One caution comes first. The FNS eligibility page, updated Nov. 3, 2026, says it “is being updated for changes from the Working Families Tax Cut Act, so the figures may change.” The benefit amounts come from FNS’s separate cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) page, updated Oct. 21, 2026. The FNS site blocked automated reads, so both pages were read on FNS’s own host, fns-prod.azureedge.us, and are listed below under their fns.usda.gov addresses. We did not find FY2026 figures on the FNS pages we read, so this story does not show a year-over-year change. For when benefits load, see our January 2027 SNAP payment schedule.
What is the maximum SNAP benefit by household size in FY2027?
The table gives the maximum monthly allotment from the FNS COLA page for the 48 states and DC. The last column is our own calculation: the maximum divided by the number of people, rounded to the cent. It is not an FNS figure.
| Household size | Maximum monthly allotment | Per person (computed) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 person | $306 | $306.00 |
| 2 people | $562 | $281.00 |
| 3 people | $808 | $269.33 |
| 4 people | $1,023 | $255.75 |
| 5 people | $1,217 | $243.40 |
| 6 people | $1,463 | $243.83 |
| 7 people | $1,616 | $230.86 |
| 8 people | $1,841 | $230.13 |
| Each additional person | $225 | Not applicable |
A household of one gets the most per person, and the per-person amount falls as the household grows. FNS also lists a minimum benefit of $25 for households of one or two people in the 48 states and DC. The maximum is the most a household can get; it is not what every household receives.
What are the SNAP income limits for 2027?
The FNS eligibility page says its information is “for Oct. 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2027.” The gross limit is 130% of the federal poverty level, and the net limit is 100%. Both are monthly amounts.
| Household size | Gross monthly income limit (130% of poverty) | Net monthly income limit (100% of poverty) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 person | $1,729 | $1,330 |
| 2 people | $2,345 | $1,804 |
| 3 people | $2,960 | $2,277 |
| 4 people | $3,575 | $2,750 |
| 5 people | $4,191 | $3,224 |
| 6 people | $4,806 | $3,697 |
| 7 people | $5,421 | $4,170 |
| 8 people | $6,037 | $4,644 |
| Each additional person | +$616 | +$474 |
Because the page says the figures may change, treat this table as the posted FNS numbers as of Nov. 3, 2026. We do not say what the update will change.
What are the deductions and asset limits for FY2027?
The COLA page also lists the amounts below for the 48 states and DC.

How much SNAP can a family of 4 get in Alaska, Hawaii, Guam and the Virgin Islands?
The 48-state amounts do not apply there. FNS lists a separate maximum for a household of four.
| Place | Maximum monthly allotment, 4 people |
|---|---|
| Alaska, Urban | $1,306 |
| Alaska, Rural 1 | $1,666 |
| Alaska, Rural 2 | $2,027 |
| Guam | $1,507 |
| Hawaii | $1,655 |
| U.S. Virgin Islands | $1,315 |
For the 48 states and DC, the same household maximum is $1,023. We did not find the other household sizes for these places on the pages we read, so they are left out.
