Friday’s Wordle, #1966 on Nov. 6, 2026, was edited by Tracy Bennett for The New York Times (NYT). Its single vowel sits in the middle with a pair of consonants on each side, so a guess with vowels alone will not find much. For a refresher, the rules live on the Wordle hub, and this page keeps the answer out of sight for now.

Guessing tips for today

Show the solving tips

A word with a lone vowel in the middle rewards a guess that pins the middle letter first. Test a common vowel in the third spot early, since a hit there narrows a lot. Both ends are consonant pairs, so give the opening pair a close look. Opening words with several vowels give little help here. Of eight starters checked against the answer, Trace shares three letters, two of them in the exact spot. Slate and Audio share one letter each. Pick a first guess that tests consonants as well as the lone vowel.
