World Vegan Day 2026 Is Sunday, Nov. 1: World Vegan Month Dates and a Free Planner

World Vegan Day is tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, and it opens World Vegan Month, according to The Vegan Society, the UK charity whose founders coined the word “vegan.” Below are the weekdays of World Vegan Day through 2030, a short timeline of how the day began, and a free one-page planner for the 30 days of November.

When is World Vegan Day in 2026?

Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026. The Vegan Society says: “Every November, World Vegan Month is celebrated worldwide as a time to shine a light on the vegan movement.” It is an awareness day, so schools and offices keep their own schedules. The month runs Nov. 1-30, which is 30 days with four full weekends (Nov. 7-8, 14-15, 21-22 and 28-29); Sunday, Nov. 1 and Monday, Nov. 30 sit on either side. How did World Vegan Day begin?

The Vegan Society’s World Vegan Month page says the society “started in November 1944 when our founding members coined the word ‘vegan.’” Its history page says Donald Watson called a meeting that November with five other non-dairy vegetarians, including Elsie Shrigley. Words considered and dropped included “dairyban,” “vitan” and “benevore.” Watson said “vegan” holds the first three and last two letters of “vegetarian.”

The society says its former President, Louise Wallis, created World Vegan Day in 1994, and that November was chosen because it is the month the society was founded.
