NYT Pips Hints and Answers for Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026: Easy, Medium and Hard Domino Placements
Pips for Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026: two hints for each board, then every domino placement for Easy, Medium and Hard from the official puzzle data.
In this article
Wednesday’s Pips from The New York Times (NYT), for Nov. 4, 2026, has an Easy board by Ian Livengood and Medium and Hard boards by Rodolfo Kurchan; two hints for each come first, and every domino placement is at the end. The solutions come from the puzzle data the Times publishes for the game and were checked against every region’s rule. The boards go live at midnight in your time zone.
How Pips works
You place every domino so that each colored region meets its condition. A number means the pips in the region add up to it; = means every half shows the same value; ≠ means all are different; > and < set a total above or below a number; a region with no condition takes anything. Rows are counted from the top and columns from the left, so R2C5 is the second row, fifth column.
Wednesday’s Pips hints, Nov. 4, 2026
Easy (five dominoes: 4-4, 5-6, 0-0, 2-2, 4-0)
Hint 1
R2C4 must add up to 6, so it holds a 6. Only the 5-6 domino has a 6.Hint 2
R2C2, R3C2 and R3C3 are equal, so you need three matching halves. Three halves show a 0, on the 0-0 domino and the 4-0.
Medium (seven dominoes: 4-3, 4-1, 6-2, 5-3, 4-0, 3-3, 5-4)
Hint 1
R2C3 must add up to 1, so it holds a 1. Only the 4-1 domino has a 1.Hint 2
R1C3 must add up to 6, so it holds a 6. Only the 6-2 domino has a 6.
Hard (sixteen dominoes on a six-row board)
Hint 1
R2C2, R2C3, R3C2 and R5C2 must each add up to 0, so each holds a 0. Five halves show a 0, on the 0-1, 0-2, 0-3, 0-4 and 0-5 dominoes.Hint 2
R5C5, R6C5 and R6C6 are equal, so you need three matching halves. The board has no doubles, so each comes from a different domino, and a 4 appears on five halves.

Solving tips
Show the solving tips
Look for single cells with a limit: a cell that must be more than 4, as R2C4 is on Wednesday’s Medium board, can only hold a 5 or a 6 there. An “equal” region shrinks your options fast once one value is known; a double such as the 4-4 on the Easy board can supply two matching halves at once. On the Hard board, count the single cells with an exact sum: four need a 0, three need a 1, five need a 2, six need a 3, two need a 4, three need a 5 and one needs a 6, so 24 of the 32 cells are fixed from the start. The only 6 on that board is on the 3-6 domino, and R5C4 must add up to 6, so the 3-6 sits on R5C4. Its 3 lands on R4C4, which also adds up to 3.
