Three-Paycheck Months 2027: Biweekly Friday Payday Calendar and the 27-Payday Year

A biweekly paycheck paid on Friday, Jan. 1, 2027 gives you 27 paydays dated in 2027, with three paychecks in January, July and December. If your Friday payday is Jan. 8 instead, you get 26 and the three-paycheck months are April and October. The dates below are computed from the calendar, and the bank-holiday notes come from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System’s list of holidays observed by the Federal Reserve System. Which biweekly Friday schedule are you on?

2027 starts on a Friday, and a non-leap year that starts on a Friday has 53 Fridays. Biweekly pay lands every 14 days, so only one of the two Friday cycles reaches the 27th payday. Match a payday near the new year to find yours.

Schedule A pays 12 months times two plus the three extra paydays in January, July and December, which is 27. Schedule B has two extra paydays and ends the year at 26 because its next payday after Fri., Dec. 24 is Fri., Jan. 7, 2028.

Do bank holidays move a 2027 payday?

The Federal Reserve’s holiday page says that for holidays falling on a Saturday, “Federal Reserve Banks and Branches will be open the preceding Friday; however, the Board of Governors will be closed.” For holidays falling on a Sunday, all Federal Reserve offices close the following Monday. Checking every Friday payday against that page gives four dates to know.

If your employer pays Schedule A’s Jan. 1 payday on Thu., Dec. 31, 2026, only 26 of its paydays are dated in 2027, and January has two. The 27-payday count holds only when Jan. 1 itself is the pay date. The Federal Reserve page lists no other 2027 Friday as a closure.

Do other pay schedules have three-payday months?

No. Semimonthly pay on the 15th and the last day of the month has 24 paydays a year, and monthly pay has 12, so neither has more than two in a month. Weekly Friday pay has 53 paydays in 2027 because there are 53 Fridays. Five months have five Fridays: January, April, July, October and December. Those are the months where a weekly payday falls five times, and they are the same five months as the two biweekly three-payday lists combined.
